Bill Belichick Is Already Trying To Sway ESPN's College GameDay Show

With Bill Belichick officially taking over as the head coach of North Carolina, he's got a lot of very different responsibilities in building the program. One of them is making Tar Heels football a national brand worthy of recognition, and he seems to be working diligently on that front.
Appearing on Monday's edition of The Pat McAfee Show, College GameDay co-host Pat McAfee spoke to Belichick about his new position and how he intends to recruit players and find success in Chapel Hill. After some back-and-forth, Belichick suggested that McAfee use some of his influence to bring the show down to Chapel Hill for a week.
"Can I just jump in there and say, why don't you come down and talk about it in person? How about if we do GameDay down here?" Belichick asked.

It wouldn't be a terrible idea. College GameDay hasn't visited the North Carolina campus since 1997, and the Tar Heels have only even appeared on the show three times in the show's long and storied history.
But fans weren't quite as enthused about the idea as Belichick is. Many took to social media and demanded that Belichick win some games before he starts trying to convince the powers that be to put his program on College GameDay.
"A lot of talk for a coach with 0 college wins," one user remarked.
"Let's win first Bill. How about that," another suggested.
"Would actually be the most boring game day ever," an N.C. State fan declared.
On paper there don't appear to be a ton of compelling matchups that feature the Tar Heels anyway, let alone at home. Their opponents at Chapel Hill in 2025 are TCU (Week 0), Richmond, Clemson, Duke, Stanford and Virginia.
Clemson might be the best bet given how good the Tigers usually are, while Duke could also be an option since the two are renown rivals (albeit on the basketball court far more than on the football field).
There's also the element of North Carolina needing to be at least a little bit good in order for College GameDay to grace Chapel Hill with its presence. If the Tar Heels are 3-3 or 4-2 when they take on a team like Duke or Clemson it will be a very tough sell.
Will we see Belichick's Tar Heels on GameDay in 2025?
