What Bill Belichick Has Been Up To With New Girlfriend (1:12)

Does Bill Belichick have a vendetta against the New England Patriots? At least one prominent voice in the Boston area believes the answer is a resounding yes.

Earlier this week, Belichick appeared on "The Pat McAfee Show" to talk about Week 10 of the NFL season. When asked about the Patriots' win over the Chicago Bears, he gave rookie quarterback Drake Maye credit for making plays off script. However, he wasn't willing to rave about his former team. Instead, he trashed the Bears.

"Well, I think he's done a good job when he's been able to scramble and run around," Belichick said. "He made some plays on play-action where he can separate the defense when the running game draws some of the coverage and linebackers up. But you know, to me, the bigger thing is where the Bears are. They can't protect, they can't move the ball, and they can't score any points."

Fred Toucher of 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston didn't appreciate those remarks from Belichick. He believes the future Hall of Famer is just incapable of applauding the Patriots.

"Good old Belichick, who bad-mouthed the team again last night. He is such a [expletive]," Toucher said. "I can't believe Patriots fans don't look at the guy now and think, 'What a petty little prick.' Because even when they do well, he doesn't give them credit for doing well.

"When they do bad, I can see him crapping all over them. Because at least that's in the guise of doing your job. But when they do good and you don't give them any credit… Literally make the statement 'Well, it's really not so much about the Patriots as it is the Bears.' That's holding a vendetta."

Toucher wasn't messing around, clearly.

Even if Belichick has a vendetta against the Patriots, are we supposed to be surprised? He's obviously going to feel some type of way about a team he coached for well over two decades, especially since things ended on a sour note.

As for Belichick's opinion of Maye, he probably should be a bit more complimentary and admit that his draft assessment hasn't aged well so far.
