Meet Carson Beck's Cheerleader Sister (1:15)

Since entering the NCAA transfer portal earlier this week, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck has emerged as the top available quarterback in the country with just about every QB-needy team ready to sign him.

But while the Miami Hurricanes appear like the obvious suitors for him for a slew of reasons including but not limited to his girlfriend playing for their basketball team, there's another team that's believed to be making a push to land him.

Appearing on the On3 Recruits YouTube show, On3 Sports insider Pete Nakos admitted that Miami remains the "team to beat right now" in the Carson Beck sweepstakes. Due to the reason mentioned earlier and others.

And while Nakos mentioned Ohio State as a team that might make a phone call about him, he didn't appear convinced that they'll go all-out for him.

The team that Nakos does believe is lurking and can ultimately surprise people is Texas Tech. Nakos pointed out that the Red Raiders have spent more money than any other program on improving their team via the transfer portal this offseason.

"The major wildcard, the biggest spender in this year's transfer portal, Texas Tech. I expect that the Red Raiders will attempt to bring him to Lubbock," Nakos said.

Texas Tech went 8-4 in the regular season before losing to Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl. They were led by starter Behren Morton, who completed 63.3-percent of his passes for 3,335 yards and 27 touchdowns with eight interceptions.

The Red Raiders are going to lose their leading wide receiver and leading rusher from this past season, but might wind up with an even better roster via their aforementioned transfer portal moves.

If Beck is seeking an easier path to the College Football Playoff while still facing NFL-caliber competition on a regular basis, he'll be hard-pressed to find a better situation than an above-average Big 12 team like Texas Tech.

There isn't a dominating power in that conference like now unlike the Big Ten, SEC and ACC. Every team in the Big 12 lost at least two games in the regular season this past year and nobody clinched a trip to the conference title game until the final Saturday.

Miami would be perfect for Beck for a slew of reasons if he wants a challenge. But if he wants to dominate, Texas Tech might be the pick.
