Dave Portnoy And Sam Ponder's Beef Explained (1:26)

Michigan got a major recruiting win on Thursday when five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood committed to the program.

Michigan was able to flip Underwood from LSU after there were rumors that Michigan was offering Underwood $10.5 million of NIL money over four years.

Barstool's Dave Portnoy confirmed that he was involved with Underwood's recruitment to Michigan and posted a celebratory video after the news came out.

"Everyone's like 'Dave, how much were you involved?' Listen, there are a lot of other factors. ... Was I involved in a call with the family? Are they lovely people? Did we pitch a plan? Of course, we did," Portnoy said

Portnoy got to help Michigan's NIL collective with the money for Underwood. NIL continues to be a dominant force in college recruiting and it's going to stay that way for a long time.

Underwood is the top quarterback recruit and the top overall recruit in the 2025 recruiting class, per 247Sports composite rankings. He's a big-time get for Michigan since he'll more than likely be Michigan's quarterback of the future.

The Wolverines are only 5-5 during the 2024 season but a bit of a down year was expected after they won the national title last year.

Still, they're set up for more future success by securing Underwood's recruitment. It's a big win for head coach Sherrone Moore and Co.

Meanwhile, this is a big recruiting loss for head coach Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers. The Tigers are also coming off a 27-16 loss against Florida last Saturday and is 6-4 heading into their last two games.
