Hurricane Helene has torn through the southeastern United States on Friday, affecting several states including Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

The storm hit northern Florida especially hard, with hundreds of thousands losing power across the region. Flooding has also affected the area as rain continues to fall.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife left their home with their daughter and dog before the storm hit, and Emily Mayfield is giving an update on their condition following the storm's impact.

"Baker, Koko, Fergus and I evacuated yesterday and are safe," Mayfield said on her Instagram story.

"Our sweet, sweet community got pummeled, but even that doesn't compare to the people up North who took this storm head on. It's unfathomable."

Mayfield was thankful that their home wasn't affected by the storm, but she also offered her prayers to "everyone dealing with the aftermath."

"Time to come together and help each other out. I have faith in this community," she said.

"I am looking for ways to get out and tangibly help. Please send me anything you find, and I will share the good ones."

Dozens have reportedly lost their lives in the storm, with several of those fatalities recorded in the state of Florida. The storm has since weakened to a tropical depression, but it still poses danger to those in its path along the southeastern coast.

Helene was the first category four storm to hit Florida's Big Bend region in over 170 years, making this an extremely rare occurrence for the area.

The Buccaneers are scheduled to play the Philadelphia Eagles at home this Sunday in Tampa. So far, no adjustments for a kickoff time or new venue have been made.

It will be the second home game in a row for the Buccaneers, who lost to the Denver Broncos at Raymond James Stadium last week.

We'll see if the game gives the local residents something to rally around after a difficult week of dealing with the dangerous weather.
