Army, Navy Make History In Week 8 AP Poll Top 25

The Week 8 AP Poll is out on Sunday afternoon and two Service Academies have made history.
The new AP Poll is out on Sunday afternoon, with Texas holding firm at No. 1 overall. Oregon is at No. 2, following the Ducks' big win over Ohio State. Penn State, the Buckeyes and Georgia round out the top five. But it's two teams ranked at the bottom of the AP Poll that are making history.
For the first time in more than 50 years, Army and Navy are both ranked in the AP Poll.
Army is 6-0 on the year, while Navy is at 5-0. The Black Knights are ranked No. 23 in the country, while the Midshipmen are ranked No. 5-0 overall.
The two teams are both ranked in the AP Poll together for the first time since 1960. That's pretty insane.
"Army & Navy are ranked in the Top 25 together for the 1st time since 1960. 🫡 This was the same fall a guy named John F. Kennedy was elected president," College Sports Only wrote.
It's possible that Army and Navy could throw a huge wrench into the College Football Playoff situation, too. The two Service Academies are scheduled to play the week after the 12-team College Football Playoff field is announced. If one of those teams ends up finishing undefeated, do they get in the College Football Playoff? Or would they both be left out?
The College Football Playoff selection committee will have a fascinating decision to make.
