Chicago Sky star Angel Reese began her WNBA career as the 7th overall pick out of LSU. Reese's collegiate career at LSU is where her initial rise to stardom took place. Alongside several talented teammates, including 2023 SEC Rookie of the Year Flau'Jae Johnson, Reese helped deliver LSU a national championship in her junior season.
The Johnson-Reese duo is one that has received a lot of attention over the years. Seemingly inseparable during their time as teammates, the two have grown apart recently, which is something Reese opened up about on an episode of her podcast.
"I still support Flau'jae," Reese said. "We aren't as close as we used to be. And there's no hard feelings or anything, but we aren't as close."
While her friendship with Reese may not be what it once was, Johnson made a major relationship announcement via her Instagram story on Thursday night.
Sharing several photos of roses, balloons and a ring, Johnson announced that she is now in a relationship.
Johnson, who has 1.9 million followers on Instagram, also rose to stardom largely due to her LSU career. In the 2023 National Championship game against Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes, Johnson was one of five LSU players to score in double figures.
Taking home the SEC Rookie of the Year award that season, Johnson was a high-level complement to Reese. As the latter stated on her podcast, the two still support one another, even if their friendship is not what it once was.
