Angel Reese didn't earn the nickname "Bayou Barbie" for nothing. And now the former LSU star's reach has brought her all the way to the cover of Vogue Magazine.
In a recent feature titled "How Sports and Fashion Fell In Love," the Chicago Sky forward talked about where her love of style came from and how she married that with her passion for athletics.
"It's always been both: basketball and fashion," Reese told the publication. "But I was a fashion girlie from young too... I was always in my mom's closet, putting on her stuff. I liked to carry a purse. Hair done. I wanted to look put together. I still do... I used to watch 'America's Next Top Model' with Tyra and practice my walk in the living room."
Reese recently made headlines with her revealing New Year's Eve look — something she blew a kiss to critics about after landing her iconic Vogue cover.
"I 'covered up' and gave y'all COVERGIRL," Reese said on X. "Show up as yourself even if it makes other uncomfortable."
Reese's popularity has been impossible to ignore. From her days as an unapologetic All-American in college, to her historic rookie season in The W, Angel has done it her way at every level. She even announced her decision to go pro not with ESPN — but through the fashion and lifestyle mag.
Reese's cover spread showcased the 2024 All-Star in a striking red dress, a flowing sparkle gown, an oversized coat and a sharp grey suit.
"There have always been athletes with loads of style, but as cultures the runway and the stadium long kept their distance, with rare exceptions (David Beckham, the Williams sisters) proving the rule," Vogue wrote.
"Now gymnasts, sprinters, basketball players, footballers, and boxers regularly sit front row during fashion week — if they're not walking in the shows themselves. What changed? For Vogue's Winter 2025 issue, Maya Singer speaks to [Angel] Reese ... and others about how sports and fashion fell in love."
