Alabama head coach Nate Oats pulled off arguably the biggest win of his career on Thursday night as the Crimson Tide eliminated No. 1 seed North Carolina from the NCAA Tournament.

The Tide won a back-and-forth game that came down to the final minute, where they made the plays to come away with a narrow victory over a team many believed could win the national title.

With a date against Clemson in the Elite Eight confirmed, Oats took a shot at the team he just eliminated from the tournament.

As Alabama celebrated its win over North Carolina in the locker room, Oats reminded his players that they just ended another team's season.

"The fellas in Chapel Hill? They don't have practice tomorrow," said the Alabama coach after the game.

Alabama is moving on to the Elite Eight for the first time since 2004, and they've got a chance to advance to their first Final Four in program history.

They'll face Clemson in the Elite Eight in a game that fans were more likely to anticipate in football rather than basketball.

Alabama entered last year's tournament as a No. 1 seed, but they've advanced at least one round further as a No. 4 seed this time around.

Oats has been considered one of the best coaches in the country since taking over at Alabama in 2019, and he's got the chance to make history with the Tide with one more win on Saturday.

The future may be uncertain for Alabama football after Nick Saban's retirement, but things look very bright for the Alabama basketball program with Oats leading the way.
