Adam Schefter The New Woj? (1:11)

Many folks could relate to the tough decision Adam Schefter had to make on Tuesday.

Taking to X with a football-related update, the ESPN insider shared that in light of recent news he's been forced to drop 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey from his fantasy team — a player many selected first overall in their respective fantasy leagues.

"This hurt," Schefter said.

Fans reacted to Schefter's post.

"I feel you @AdamSchefter. This hurt me all season. Lol," a user laughed.

"Per Sources is so cold," a fan said of his team name.

"Tough day for many of us," Mike Clay replied.

"Yeah, that's AWFUL," a fan admitted.

"I put him on IR," another person commented.

"it's wild that it was known since May that he wasn't gonna be playing more than half the season and 'per sources' still drafted him lol."

"Had to be done," Wolf Sports added.

"Even worse if you were holding onto Jordan Mason on your bench."

McCaffrey went down with a PCL injury against the Bills on Sunday night — ending his season at just four games.

His coach, Kyle Shanahan, said that the All-Pro won't need surgery but admitted how tough of a loss it is.

"I just feel for him," Shanahan said, via ESPN.com. "It was a real frustrating year for him. He worked his [expletive] off to get back to this point and I think he was really feeling good and about to take off. He just had that real unfortunate injury last night. I know he's as crushed as anyone, but he'll get through this. He's a hell of a player, a hell of a person and an unbelievable 49er. And he'll be back stronger than ever next year to help us."

Hopefully McCaffrey has a speedy and healthy recovery (and thoughts go out to those who drafted him high as well).
