Why Aaron Rodgers And Danica Patrick Broke Up (1:20)

Aaron Rodgers' physical health has been a frequent topic of conversation over the last week or so.

Some have speculated that Rodgers has been playing through an injury, partly the reason why his performance with the New York Jets this season has not matched his career showing. Over the weekend, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport claimed Rodgers had been refusing certain medical treatment because he did not want to know the extent of his issues.

"One source explained that Rodgers has resisted getting scans done, not wanting to reveal the severity of his injuries out of fear of having to come off the field. He has insisted that he keep playing," Rapoport wrote.

"The hamstring injury he suffered against the Broncos on Sept. 29 was believed to be a particularly significant one, but Rodgers assured everyone it was fine. Asked about it, a source said, he would simply say, 'I'm playing,'" Rapoport added.

Personal medical freedom is an important belief for Rodgers, and on "The Pat McAfee Show" Tuesday, he denied Rapaport's report.

"When it comes to scans, first of all, I've played 20 years. I know my body better than anybody," Rodgers said before adding that he has a "great relationship" with the team's medical and training staff.

"We had a lot of great conversations where they diagnosed what I was dealing with and I told them how I was feeling and we talked about the possibilities of playing and rehab and what it would take," Rodgers added. "There was no mandate ever."

Rodgers also said he would not go on injured reserve without being hurt, a response to a report from The Athletic which said the Jets were considering shutting him down at some point during the season.

On Monday, Jets head coach Jeff Ulbrich denied that was the case, saying that Rodgers was the team's starter and there is no plan to have him sit.

The Jets (3-8) will resume their season Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET against the Seattle Seahawks.
