Aaron Rodgers Announces Decision On Offseason Darkness Retreat
01/01/2025 05:05 PM
A lot of questions linger for Aaron Rodgers over the next couple of months, but the Jets quarterback put one to rest as New York prepares for its regular season finale.
Asked about how he would ultimately make the decision of whether or not he'll be returning to the NFL in 2025, Rodgers offered a funny tongue-in-cheek response.
"Probably darkness again," the QB said with a smile. "No, I think I'm done with that. I won't be doing any darkness retreats this offseason."
Rodgers went on to give reporters a soft timeline of when he could decide. However, that's not going to be until he's able to get away for a while and clear his head.
"I need a break mentally," Rodgers said. "I don't want to make a decision until I've been able to rest mentally and physically… I just need a break to refresh, put my feet in the sand and see where I'm at after that."
"March is free agency, I don't think we're going to get that far because there's going to be a regime change here with the GM and then I'll either get a call or have a conversation and go from there," the 41-year-old continued.
The Jets wrap up the year with a Week 18 matchup vs. the Miami Dolphins at 4:25 PM ET on FOX.
New York will try to make its final record look a little better by going 5-12 instead of 4-13.
