Many fans and analysts were quick to blame New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the owner's decision to fire head coach Robert Saleh. While Rodgers has vehemently denied going straight to Jets owner Woody Johnson and asking him, he's willing to admit that he did have a role in the decision - sort of.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, the Jets quarterback conceded that a big reason for Saleh's firing was likely the Jets' 2-3 record. He recognized that his own struggles on the field were a reason they've been losing - and by extension, why Saleh got fired.

"If I play better, this doesn't happen," Rodgers said.

The Jets still have a chance at turning their season around. They may be 2-3, but they're only one game behind the the Buffalo Bills for the AFC East lead and if they beat the Bills on Monday, they'll be tied for first place.

Maybe a new voice in the locker room and a new offensive playcaller (both of which the firing of Saleh have prompted) will be the shot in the arm the Jets need to turn the season around and end their decade-long playoff drought.

But if it doesn't, a lot of people at One Jets Drive are going to be out of a job - and Rodgers might not stick around either.
