The Kansas City Chiefs can take one step closer to history on Sunday.
Kansas City is on a quest to become the first NFL team to ever win three consecutive Super Bowls. The AFC West champions can capture their fifth conference title of the Patrick Mahomes era by defeating the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game.
Before kickoff, the Chiefs declared seven players inactive. The following players won't dress for Sunday's monumental showdown: cornerback Keith Taylor, defensive end Joshua Uche, offensive linemen C.J. Hanson, Wanya Morris, and Evan Driskell, wide receiver Justyn Ross, and defensive end Malik Herring.
None appear to be out for injury reasons. Patrick Mahomes was one of four players listed on their latest injury report, but nobody had a game designation after fully practicing all week.
Fans thought Ross might see his first action since Week 10 after getting elevated off the practice squad. The 25-year-old speedster hasn't caught a pass all season.
Three months ago, the Chiefs acquired Uche from the New England Patriots for a sixth-round pick in 2026. The former second-round pick has played limited reps in six games since the trade and was inactive for last weekend's AFC Divisional Round win over the Houston Texans.
Morris played in all 17 games this season, but he also didn't compete in Kansas City's second-round game. According to Pro Football Focus, the tackle committed 11 penalties and allowed seven sacks.
The Bills also declared seven players inactive for Sunday. Safety Taylor Rapp won't play after missing practice all week with a back and hip injury.
Offensive linemen Ryan Van Demark and Sedrick Van Pran-Granger, defensive tackles DeWayne Carter and Quinton Jefferson, and kick returner Brandon Codrington won't play. Mike White is the emergency third-string quarterback behind Josh Allen and Mitchell Trubisky.
Officially listed as questionable, linebacker Baylon Spector and starting cornerback Christian Benford are both active for Buffalo.
The Bills have defeated the Chiefs in each of the last four regular seasons, but Kansas City has won all three postseason encounters. Allen and Co. will look to send Buffalo to its first Super Bowl in 31 years.
The AFC Championship Game starts at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
