Prior to this Thursday's game for the San Francisco 49ers, wide receiver Deebo Samuel complained about his role on social media. Shocker - that turned out to be a dumb move.

Earlier this week, Samuel tweeted, "Not struggling at all, just not getting the ball." He eventually deleted that tweet after people pointed out that he led the team in drops. Of course, the damage was already done. Everyone knew the 49ers would want to get Samuel the ball early and often against the Los Angeles Rams. The problem is that he couldn't make the most of his opportunities. He finished Week 15 with just three receptions for 16 yards.

In the third quarter of Thursday night's game, Samuel dropped what would've been a touchdown. He was wide-open on a slant and had plenty of room to reach the end zone. Once the ball hit the turf, the fans at Levi's Stadium let their voices be heard.

Three-time Super Bowl champion Mark Schlereth, meanwhile, went on social media to offer his thoughts on Samuel's struggles. Instead of trying to give him words of encouragement, he gave the former All-Pro some brutally honest advice.

"Stop [expletive] and catch the football," Schlereth wrote on X

Honestly, Schlereth is right. If Samuel is going to complain about his role, he can't be dropping easy touchdown passes.

Samuel didn't have much to say during his postgame press conference. 49ers star George Kittle, however, was kind enough to share his advice to his teammate.

"There's things that you just have to take on the chin... talking to the media, taking ownership over what you had said before... how you played tonight, take ownership over it... leave it in the past and move on," Kittle told reporters

If Samuel wants to make things better, he'll listen to Kittle's advice. The only way through this slump is by taking accountability.

That being said, there's not much Samuel can do to save face in San Francisco. It's becoming increasingly apparent that 49ers fans are done with him.
