Top 5 Coaches The Jets Should Hire (1:23)

After 56 games at the helm and a 20-36 record, the New York Jets have fired Robert Saleh after just over three years in charge.

While Jeff Ulbrich has been tabbed as Saleh's interim replacement, the team is likely to cast a wide net in the 2025 offseason. Ulbrich will be hard-pressed to get the full-time job barring a trip to the playoffs, and it's not even guaranteed he'll get the job if he does end their decade-plus postseason drought.

The league is trending heavily towards young offensive-minded head coaches who have significant experience in developing quarterbacks. So it should be no surprise that the top candidates to emerge for the Jets job meets those criteria.

According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, at least three current offensive coordinators are expected to take a look at Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik.

Monken is the oldest of the three and has been coaching about as long as Johnson and Slowik have been alive, but helped get the Ravens to the AFC Championship Game last year, while quarterback Lamar Jackson earned NFL MVP honors.

Johnson has over a decade of NFL experience but has been a major figure in the Lions turning their franchise's fortunes around, particularly on offense.

Slowik is the youngest and least experienced of the three, but comes from the Kyle Shanahan coaching tree and helped CJ Stroud earn Rookie of the Year honors while winning a playoff game last year.

Fowler also threw in Bill Belichick, but Belichick has made it pretty abundantly clear that he despises the Jets and would never work for them.
