The 2024 Ring Magazine awards produced some interesting winners across all the ceremony not least this one.

The upset of the year is always one boxing fans look forward to most.

Frenchman Bruno Surace’s knockout of Jaimie Munguia quite rightly won the award.

It was one of the biggest surprises not only in boxing but in all of professional sport of 2024.

Munguia of Mexico was very aggressive in the contest, having success early on but his perhaps over aggression gave rise to the opportunity for Surace to knock him out — which he duly did.

One of the great stories of French sport in recent times.

What a win and what a knockout for France and worldwide boxing.
