Game notes

  • The Boston Bruins are home where they'll meet the Tampa Bay Lightning for the second time in less than a week — and will hope for a better outcome. At least the Bruins return tonight not on a losing streak after defeating the Florida Panthers, 4-3, in overtime on Saturday.
  • Tonight is the second of four meetings this season between the two clubs. The Bruins saw the Lightning last Thursday, falling to them 4-1 and picking up their sixth consecutive loss at the time. The Bruins had recovered a bit in the third period to get 12 shots on net and make it a 2-1 game, but then Tampa Bay scored an empty-netter and power-play goal in the last minute and a half.
  • Yesterday, the Bruins assigned Marc McLaughlin to Providence and called up Vinni Lettieri. He has 14 goals and 21 assists so far this season with Providence. He has 129 NHL games under his belt.
  • Per WEEI's Scott McLaughlin, Oliver Wahlstrom, Trent Frederic and Lettieri made up the B's third line at practice. Johnny Beecher center Cole Koepke and Justin Brazeau on the fourth line as Mark Kastelic will be out on tonight's lineup. He remains day-to-day.
  • The Bruins' power play has crept up to 30th in the league at 13.2%...Tampa Bay's? Oh it's at 25.8%.
  • For the Lightning, Kucherov is on a five-game point streak with three goals and five assists. Since seeing the Bruins on Thursday, the Lightning lost in overtime to the New Jersey Devils and then defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins.
  • For the Bruins, David Pastrnak has seven points in his last five games with six goals and one assist. Three of those games were multi-goal games with two goals each.
  • See ya tonight!
