Game notes
- The Boston Bruins are set to face the Colorado Avalanche at the TD Garden this afternoon. This is the two's final meeting of the season. The Bruins won the first one on Oct. 16, 2024 — a 5-3 victory.
- The Bruins will look to stay sharp after Thursday's 2-0 win over the Ottawa Senators. The Bruins had one of their better defensive games with a strong penalty kill — including a big 5-on-3 kill in the third as well to hold the one-goal lead at the time.
- The Bruins sent Patrick Brown and Michael DiPietro back to Providence as it looks like Jeremy Swayman and Cole Koepke may return to the lineup...well according to interim head coach Joe Sacco, they are "options." Both Koepke and Swayman practiced yesterday.
- Injury updates: Charlie McAvoy didn't skate yesterday. Hampus Lindholm practiced in a non-contact jersey.
- For the Bruins, the David Pastrnak, Pavel Zacha and Morgan Geekie line has been finding chemistry and putting up some numbers. Pastrnak is on a six-game point streak with six goals and eight assists. In that time, he has five multi-point games and two power-play goals. Zacha has two goals and five assists and Geekie as four goals and two assists in his last six games.
- Colorado comes to Boston with some of the league's point leaders. MacKinnon leads the NHL with 75 point while Rantanen is 6th with 64. Makar leads NHL defensemen in points at 53.
- There's a drop though after that in its Colorado roster though. After those three, the next highest in points is Casey Mittelstadt with 29 points.
- The Avalanche last played on Wednesday when the team fell 3-2 in overtime to the Winnipeg Jets. Today starts a three-game road trip for them. MacKinnon also have seven points in his last five games while Jonathan Drouin has five assists in his last five games.
- On Thursday, Colorado recalled old Bruin Chris Wagner from the AHL's Colorado Eagles. He's played in 23 games this season with Colorado, registering one goal.
- Head-to-head, the Bruins and Avalanche are both 4-4-2 in their last 10 games.
- See ya soon!
