Last autumn, the Gaelic Players Association passed a motion at its AGM urging the GAA to dispense with the pre-season competitions: football's O'Byrne, McGrath and McKenna Cups and the Connacht League, and hurling's Walsh and Kehoe Cups and the Munster League.
