Colorado Mammoth: 2024-25 Season Preview

The Colorado Mammoth head into the 2024-2025 season rejuvenated as they look to bounce back from a dismal last season. The Mammoth never got going last season, finishing dead last in the league standings with a record of 5-13. Colorado had a few bright spots in their lineup, including Eli McLaughlin, who led the Mammoth with 93 points, which included 43 goals. Connor Kelly added 64 points in just 15 games to show the offensive talent this team had when fully healthy. Eventually, defensive lapses and inconsistency on both ends of the floor derailed their season.

With this in mind, the Colorado Mammoth was determined to bounce back, making key additions in the offseason. They add both Dalton Sulver and Will Malcom; two good players who bring added vitality and skill to this roster. Other key addition was highly publicized transition player Owen Rahn, who should help the Mammoth get the ball up the floor so much more effectively. Colorado did lose Joey Cupido and Dylan Kinnear, and there are questions about how a team that lost veteran leadership will adjust. Brad Self emphasized the importance of accountability, stating that the Mammoth are focused on maintaining a competitive drive throughout the season.

The Mammoth have a forthcoming schedule that has them positioned to make a statement early. They open their season on November 29th against the Vancouver Warriors; both teams want that matchup to set the tone. The Mammoth host their first-ever home game on March 23rd against the Ottawa Black Bears in a historic day for the relocated franchise. Colorado’s rivalry with the Saskatchewan Rush is re-ignited on March 29th, in a physical affair that no doubt had playoff implications. One of the biggest events during the season would have to be the “Rumble at the Loud House” on April 5th as the Mammoth host the defending champion Buffalo Bandits. Over the course of the season, these are going to be very pivotal matchups that will challenge Colorado’s resolve and their competitiveness with the best.

Colorado certainly could brag about their core on offense, led by McLaughlin and Kelly-both of whom have shown numerous times that they know how to score against any defense. Their young additions like Rahn and Sulver provide the energy and versatility that should improve their transition game. Goaltending once again becomes a focal point, with Dillon Ward looking to regain the form that put him among the league’s best. Questions, however, remain on how much tighter the Mammoth can get defensively. Poor defense often left Ward out to dry last year, leading to some tough losses.

The Colorado Mammoth are looking to turn the page on a disappointing 2023-2024 campaign as a new season takes effect. The Mammoth hope that some new faces and an overall renewed sense of purpose will prove their team is capable of contending at the highest level. How they integrate the new players and remaining consistent has become vital. Fans can expect a determined team ready to bring excitement back to the Loud House while re-igniting their push for the playoffs.
