Game notes
- Folks, I don't mean to overstate things, but the vibes around the Bruins aren't exactly great at the moment! Last time I checked, Tuesday night's recap had almost 300 comments, so...yeah. We aren't exactly thriving, are we?
- Carolina is coming off of a perfect Western swing, going 4-0-0 against Edmonton, Calgary, Seattle, and Vancouver. They beat the Canucks, 4-3 in OT, in their last game on Monday night.
- Pyotr Kochetkov started that last game for the Hurricanes after Frederik Andersen was injured in Carolina's win over Seattle. Andersen was supposed to be assessed when the Canes returned to North Carolina on Tuesday, but it appears he won't be available tonight.
- The Bruins' offense, as we all know, is struggling mightily at this point. They likely won't be getting much help tonight, with Carolina boasting the league's third-stingiest team defense (2.38 GA/G).
- As frustration mounts for the Bruins, Jim Montgomery put his lines in a blender on Wednesday, took them out, and then put them in a blender again. First line Johnny Beecher? Embrace chaos. It remains to be seen if these lines carry over to actual game action, but...we might be just about at that point.
- Shayne Gostisbehere, signed to a three-year deal in the offseason, has been great for the Hurricanes thus far in his second go-round with the team.
- You know things are going well when I get to use "discombobulated" in a headline and it's not even November.
Happy Halloween! Go enjoy copious amounts of candy and get that sugar high ready for game time.
