Game notes

  • The Boston Bruins welcome the Los Angeles Kings to the TD Garden for a matinee this afternoon! It will be a while until the B's see them again until they head out West in March.
  • Despite winning on Thursday, the B's will still look to clean up around the net and tighten their defensive game.
  • The Kings opened their season on Thursday, beating the Buffalo Sabres, 3-1, with a natural hat trick from Anze Kopitar in the third period. They are on a seven-game road trip to kick things off.
  • There were only minor adjustments to lines and defensive pairings during yesterday's practice. As Matt Poitras nears his return, he centered Trent Frederic and Justin Brazeau, leaving Riley Tufte as an extra body.
  • Jim Montgomery said Poitras is a possibility for this afternoon, but wouldn't completely rule him in the lineup. Poitras hasn't played a regular season game since Jan. 25. He last played in the preseason on Oct. 1, but has since been out with an injury.
  • On defense, Mason Lohrei and Andrew Peeke rounded out the bottom pairing. Lohrei swapped spots with Parker Wotherspoon who was on that pairing with Peeke during Thursday's game.
  • Obviously still a very young season, but out of 10 goals, the Pavel Zacha - Elias Lindholm - David Pastrnak line has four of them. Combined, they have nine points. Montgomery said after last game that he's starting to see the impact E. Lindholm can make on the line by winning puck battles and creating space.
  • I can't imagine there being a dedicated goalie rotation this year and can see Jeremy Swayman getting the start this afternoon.
  • See ya soon!
