Game notes

  • The Boston Bruins will host the St. Louis Blues this afternoon at the TD Garden, for the two's second meeting in less than a week.
  • The B's last saw the Blues on Tuesday and picked up a much-need road win. BUT the Bruins didn't have a chance to build upon the 3-2 comeback win as they were swept away by the Dallas Stars, 7-2, on Thursday.
  • It comes down to a lack of consistency, and there's really none for the team right now. There hasn't been a real, full, 60-minute effort yet. Frustrations are piling up as no one is really producing in their roles across the board. Good periods or strong finishes to periods are met with total breakdowns and a lack of effort as we are nearing 20 games into the season.
  • HOWEVER, the Bruins are still third in the Atlantic Division with a 8-8-2 record with the Ottawa senators and Buffalo Sabres posting similar records and one point behind them in the standings. Crazy.
  • The Blues also lost on Thursday, falling to the Buffalo Sabres, 4-3, in overtime to extend their losing streak to four games.
  • Despite the up-and-down from the B's, David Pastrnak has six points (two goals and four assists) in the last five games. For the Blues, Kyrou has five points in his last five games.
  • We'll continue to see how the Bruins' defense adjusts with the loss of Hampus Lindholm. The blue line...wasn't great without him on Thursday, but nothing was really great on Thursday. While Jeremy Swayman gave up 7 goals, his defense didn't do much to help him.
  • Also the Bruins officially have the worst power play in the league at the moment. 11.4%...hockey is fun.
  • See ya soon!
