The depth man who's made a big impact this year gets rewarded for his efforts!
Well, at least someone is sticking after this season.
The Bruins announced today that they've signed Mark Kastelic to a 3 year extension worth 1.567 million AAV.

Kastelic was brought in this offseason hot off the heels of trading Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators, and by all accounts has been one of the better offseason signings at least in terms of on-ice results; being an active, physical presence as well as an early leader in points on a team that has struggled badly to create them. While his production has dipped a bit, he's still remained an engaged and impressive part of a team that has struggled to impress much of anybody.
A 1.5ish AAV seems a bit rich on it's face for a guy playing 11 minutes a night, but in a rapidly expanding cap, that'll probably be the going rate for most quality 4th liners, and maybe even a little more if any future CBA discussions are wrapped up quickly. For a guy who largely has kept up his end of the bargain and then some? This is a perfectly fine deal. After all, it's a lot easier to negotiate for a 4th liner who's doing pretty well than other positions.
Congrats to Mark, and we hope he continues to enjoy his time as a Boston Bruin!
