The rain couldn't stop the Melbourne Renegades on Sunday afternoon as they clinched their maiden WBBL title with a dominant win over the Brisbane Heat.

Despite only posting a modest total of 9-141 from their 20 overs, it was one-way traffic for the Renegades with ball in hand as the Heat crumpled under the pressure.

Wet weather reduced the equation to 98 runs to win from 12 overs for the Heat, but they failed to come close to the revised total at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The visitors were in strife at 5-37, losing Grace Harris for a two-ball duck and sister Laura for a golden as Renegades all-rounder Hayley Matthews produced a quality spell.

The spinner finished with 2-24 off her three overs.

Jess Jonassen gave the Heat a glimmer of hope with a few overs to spare, blasting a quick-fire 44 off 28 deliveries, but it wasn't enough to get her side over the line.

Brisbane needed 19 off the final over to cause some late drama, but Sophie Molineux showed plenty of poise with ball in hand to close it out as they finished 6-90.

"This is something they have been dreaming of for years ... they can celebrate being champions in the 10th edition of this magnificent tournament," Mel Jones said on Fox.

Matthews was awarded Player of the Match after scoring 69 to go with two wickets.
