Tyson Fury reacted to Turki Alalshikh’s recent comments about Wladimir Klitschko potentially returning to the boxing ring.

Tyson Fury is days away from facing Oleksandr Usyk in one of the biggest heavyweight rematches in boxing history. After a 35-fight unbeaten streak to begin his professional career, his undefeated run came to a screeching halt as Usyk defeated Fury by split decision in May.

As Fury prepares for potential revenge this weekend, a former rival is close to potentially returning to the ring, setting up a possible runback. Wladimir Klitschko, who Fury defeated in 2015 to win a slew of heavyweight belts, is rumored to be considering a boxing comeback after a seven-year absence.

While Fury is lasered in on Usyk, Klitschko is possibly waiting in the wings for another shot at the UK star. Turki Alalshikh recently pitched a Klitschko comeback fight against the Fury vs. Usyk 2 victor.

It didn’t take long for Fury to share his take on Klitschko’s potential unretirement.

Tyson Fury taunts ‘Granddad’ Wladimir Klitschko amidst comeback rumors

During a recent interview with BoxNation, Fury reacted to the rumors surrounding Klitschko’s potential return to the ring.

“Whatever he wants to do, good luck!” Fury said of Klitschko. “I told him he was too old when he was 37 all of them years ago, so he’s definitely too old now at 49, for sure. Granddad.”

Fury was also asked about potentially running it back with Klitschko all these years after their first booking.

“I’m a prizefighter, show me the money,” Fury said of a possible rematch.

At the time of their fight, Fury’s win over Klitschko was the biggest win of his career, and he went on to become one of the best heavyweights of all time. The Klitschko win led Fury to pursue big-name matchups with the likes of Deontay Wilder, Dillian Whyte, and former UFC champ Francis Ngannou.

Tyson Fury faces first career opportunity to bounce back from defeat

If Klitschko returns to the ring, he will receive a full endorsement from boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. The 55-year-old Jones made his professional boxing return last year in a loss to former UFC star Anthony Pettis.

Klitschko’s loss to Fury came after a 22-fight winning streak, which included victories over the likes of Alexander Povetkin, Kubrat Pulev, and Hasim Rahman. He retired following a TKO loss to Anthony Joshua in 2017.

As Fury plots his revenge against Usyk, Klitschko could potentially be planning his redemption tour. As of this writing, Klitschko hasn’t addressed the rumors of a possible boxing return.

If Fury is victorious in his upcoming rematch against Usyk, he could be on the verge of welcoming his former rival back to the ring. But Fury’s reaction to a possible Klitschko comeback fight could indicate a lack of interest in a rematch unless the price is right.
