GWS captain Toby Greene was fined $3,750 ($2,500 with an early plea) for striking Sydney's Jake Lloyd in Saturday's Sydney Derby loss.

It was the 24th time of his career that Greene has been cited, taking his overall fine tally to in excess of $31,000.

Greene struck Lloyd in the stomach during the fourth quarter with a punch that was deemed to be intentional conduct, low impact and body contact.

SEN regular and Tom Morris said the fine received by Greene has broken the $30k threshold for the first time in the AFL.

"Toby Greene was fined for his gut punch on Jake Lloyd," Channel 9 journalist said on SEN Breakfast.

"That takes his career financial sanctions to $31,850.

"It is an unbelievable amount. It is the most in history. It's 24 charges, he's been suspended for 14 or 15 weeks.

"That's a lot of fines. He's not playing his best footy at the moment, he's clearly a little bit frustrated."

Greene missed the Round 7 win over Brisbane after he was handed a one-match ban for rough conduct on Jordan Boyd in his side's Round 6 loss to Carlton.

He returned for the clash with the Swans but lost his cool again as the Giants went under for the second time in three weeks.

In 2024, the three-time All-Australian has kicked just nine goals from seven outings in what has individually been a slow start to the campaign.

Greene's teammate Callum Brown was suspended for three matches for his bump on Swans defender Tom McCartin while Harry Himmelberg was offered a $3,750 fine for tripping James Rowbottom.
