Cats sign talented forward to two-year deal after Blues delisting

Geelong have made the second signing of the delisted free agency window, with former Carlton forward Jack Martin joining the club on Friday.

Martin has inked a two-year deal with the Cats, keeping him at GMHBA Stadium until the end of the 2026 season.

While the 29-year-old has obvious talent, he was let go by the Blues as the club and player felt an amicable split was best for both parties.

Martin played 54 games for Carlton across five seasons, and prior to that, he played 97 games for Gold Coast from 2014 to 2019.

Cats footy boss Andrew Mackie was excited to announce the signing of Martin.

"We are really excited about the prospect of bringing Jack into our football club," Mackie said via a statement.

"He is an experienced player and a quality person. He has already settled into Geelong with his young family and we look forward to welcoming him into our football program."

Martin joins fellow off-season additions of Bailey Smith via trade from Geelong and Irishman Cillian Burke as a Category B rookie this off-season for the Cats.
